It looks to me as if Google is trying to dominate the online business world … that makes a whole load of sense and you’d be crazy not to capitalise on this!
On a Windows 7 Laptop, this is what a Google + Local Page looks like. The owner needs to ‘take ownership’ which is free and easy … click on the link near the red arrow and follow the simple steps. Once you are verified as the actual owner, you can place additional photos and textual content, place a StreetView style Virtual Tour ( that’s where I come in! ) and start to develop the potential this free service from Google offers your business!
Do not underestimate the potential this could have for your business …
My explanations and interpretations as at 30th Oct 2012:
Google Places have now become Google+ for:
Google+ Local Business or Places Page is a presence on Google+ for your business.
A Google+ Business Page is sortta like a FB page for business – can have multiple admins posting content and uploading photos.
Google+ Button is Google’s version of the FB like button but on steroids!
Google+ page will appear on Google Maps and Google Mobile.
*Your Google+ Page for Business can have multiple admins ( like a FB business page ) who can each post photos, content, updates.
May 2012 Article from Search Engine Land – “We asked about management of multiple locations from a single page. Google said that there’s no news for the time being but that’s the ultimate goal:
“A single page through which businesses can manage their online presence is a top priority, and we’re committed to ensuring business owners have a clear voice in how their business is represented on Google, via Google+.”
Some time ago Google migrated Google Places page to the new Google+. Search up your business name on Google and you may find you already have a Google+ listing of which you can take ownership … for free! Before you do so … Google highly recommends having a separate private and business Google account: – “Should I have separate personal and business Google accounts?” –
* Your Google+ Page for Business can have multiple admins ( like a FB business page ) who can each post photos, content, updates.
* Multiple admins will all login to your Google+ Page with the same Google account.
Local Google+ pages are unique from other categories of pages because they have features that allow customers to easily connect with that business’s physical location.
For example, local pages include a map of the business’s location and feature its address, phone number, and hours of operation. Local pages also share the functionality of other Google+ pages – you can create and manage circles, start and join hangouts, and share content like posts and photos.
Google has a number of options to verify that you are the business owner. If your phone number is listed on the existing Google+ page then the easiest way is to have Google phone you with the Page ‘Pin Number’. You’ll see on the Google+ page for your business in the right hand lower column “Is this your business” Manage this page. Click on that link and follow the verification steps. I have a number of Google pages and the mailing option has taken around 14 days to get to me …
